Ton cruise?

In the user's manual for my 2008 A3 SE TFSI automatic it gives a warning that cruise control should be switched off at the end of every journey. Do you know if this is a safety issue, so that you have to make a conscious effort to re-engage it next time - or whether there is some mechanical/electronic impact if you fail to do so?

I bought the car second-hand from an Audi dealer and had to have a new gearbox Mechatronics unit fitted - all done under Audi Approved Warranty - and wondered whether this in any way reflected how cruise control might have been used previously?

Cruise control can malfunction if not switched off before the rest of the car's systems have been shut down. Readers have reported this with various non-Audi makes and models.
