Who should cover my hire car charges after an accident?

My insurance company gave me permission to hire a car whilst waiting for either my car to be repaired or the total loss costs paid. Because of various mistakes, the car hire has gone on for a couple of months which has resulted in some hefty credit card charges. From whom can I claim these charges? Can I take out a Small Claims case against the guy who hit me?

You have a duty to 'mitigate' your expenses on the hire of a car during a repair. However, after the Darren Bent judgement concerting a credit hire cost of £63,000, you should successfully be able to charge it to the other party's insurer. See: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/what-is-credit-hire/
