Alloy wheel warranties - worth it?

I have seen a number of ads recently offering insurance cover for alloy wheels. The ads mention cover for accidental damage but I wonder if hitting one of the many potholes in the road networks today would be classed as "accidental" and a pay-out would be forthcoming?

If a payout was not forthcoming for pothole or kerb 'accidental damage' then what would be the point of the warranty? You have to read the terms carefully.
