Warning triangles now illegal?

I had broken down on the hard shoulder of the A3 yesterday, and I put out the warning red triangle carried in my Mercedes-Benz.

I was told to remove it by breakdown assistance as the triangles are now considered a hazard due to being sucked into the road by articulated trucks, and are deemed illegal in this country. Is this true?
