Should our car have all-weather tyres?

We purchased a new shape Honda CR-V EX back in November 2012. We've since noticed after a couple of instances that the car has lost traction (once when we had the snow a couple of a weeks ago which resulted in damage to the front of the car, and another time during heavy rain) that Honda are fitting summer tyres (Michelin Lattitude sports) to the new EX models.

We previously owned a Mark 3 CRV and have noticed the new models with 17" Alloys all have All season tyres fitted, where our car has the 18" alloys with the summer tyres.

We've spoken to our sales guy and he's said he can't do anything locally and we'd have to talk to Honda Customer Service.

Honda Customer Service are saying there's nothing wrong with their SUMMER tyres, have been independantly tested and really, there's not much difference between summer and winter tyres.

Technically, they are right ... there's nothing wrong with those SUMMER tyres.

The debate is why did Honda put summer tyres on the new CR-V with 18" wheels ... while the previous gen had all-season tyres and even the new one has all-season tyres with the 17" wheels and what we can do about getting these tyres switched for an all-season (or winter) tyre.

That's just a marketing decision. No obligation on Honda to change your tyres. 17" all season tyres will work better than 18". But why they fit them or summer tyres is more likely to do with tyre price deals than anything else.
