Do I need to use 98RON in my performance car?

I have a Mazda3 MPS 2009 and the fuel flap says use MIN 98RON but my supplying dealer - SG Petch - said 95 is fine. Forums suggest you'll lose some mpg & power with 95 but I am not too fussed about this, i just don't want to damage the engine. Please advise me!

Use 98 or 99 Ron petrol or sell the car and get something designed to run on 95 Ron petrol.
