New car extended warranty - what do you suggest?

I have recently ordered VW Golf 1.4TSI Match through drivethedeal, I have been inspired through your forum and everything till now went fine.

I am thinking of keeping the car more than five years, I have been told that extending warranty to five Years with Volkswagen will cost £490 while registering the new car. Do you think is it worth to buy while new car rather just before expiring the three years or will it be cheaper?

And also I am looking of accessories Door Sill Trims and Mudflaps do you think they protect the car's body as it say and worth a buy?, but I am rarely see it installed on the recent cars.

I'd buy it with the car. of course, it makes a VW £490 dearer than a Hyundai or a Toyota that come with a five-year warranty as standard, and a lit more expensive then a Kia that comes with a seven-year standard warranty. Sill trims worth having. Mudflaps not and will marginally worsen fuel economy.
