Daughter had an accident

My daughter, who has been driving for about 4 months, has had an accident. She has ran into the back of another vehicle. The police were involved and she had made every attempt to stop, however the car skidded to a halt leaving tyre marks of 84 feet, she swears she was not speeding. Other than my daughter suffering minor cuts and shock no one was injured. She has put a deposit on another car before this incident and I am trying to evaluate paying for the rest of the car, as I am unsure what course of action re penalty points, insurance etc. the police will take.

She was probably too close to the car in front. I had a similar incident on the M40 yesterday at 70mph. A car simply pulled into my path. Fortuntely I reacted quickly enough to steer into the space it had left. Her crash was due to lack of experience.
