Clunky SEAT Altea steering

I have owned a SEAT Altea XL from new. It was serviced and, when necessary, MOT tested by the supplying dealer (Perrys, Aylesbury) each April for four years.

In April this year it was serviced and MOT tested by Arnold Clark SEAT in Edinburgh. I reported a clunking noise apparently from front nearside but no findings were recorded. This noise is now as bad or worse, and I have discovered it occurs when the steering wheel is turned.

Car otherwise drives normally. I am in London at present but plan to return to Edinburgh shortly. Can you suggest what the noise might be, and whether it would be safe (from all points of view) to drive car to Edinburgh to be seen again by Arnold clark SEAT?

I have to urge you to get this checked before undertaking a long journey. Might be a driveshaft, might be a steering joint, might just be part of the inner wing liner catching on the steering arm.
