Problems with a Zafira

We had problems with car running on a short distance with flooding and drys up and restarts. The AA have been out on occasion, and after first diagnosis pointed to throttle body housing and lamba sensor. 2nd diagnosis pointed at idle air control system and also we checked the manifold air intake solonoid which we checked and seemed to be working fine. We plan to change the throttle housing because the AA mechanic is baffled on this case as he has gone through checks outside of his diagnostic check.

There is a known fault on this model which is the throttle valve not closing correctly due to a build up of deposits in the throttle body. However the cure may just be removing the throttle body and cleaning inside, don't forget to renew the throttle body gasket gasket. If that does not work then check the ECT (engine coolant temp) harness multi plug connection as again it is a known fault(it tends to come loose with vibration). You may have to renew the harness if really bad.
Both of these faults could well cause your problem.
