C-Class running in limp mode

I have an April 05 C220 CDI with sports pack and it stalled on me about 5 miles after filling up at Morrisons, with no discernible damage noise. All electrics appeared fine. Tried to restart immediately but no joy. Left it 10 mins and it started but there appeared to be no acceleration when putting the accelerator down. Left the car for 3 days and then it ran perfectly as I took it for a service.

Diagnostic check on car showed no error code or message. Air filter was particularly dirty. Any clues as to what happened? My concern is the engine management system could be on its way out. The car has done 165,000 fault free miles.

So is the car still running in "limp mode."

If so is the engine warning light coming on? If so cannot understand why the diagnostic check did not show any fault code.

It would appear that you may have one of the many sensors playing up (although the dirty air filter could also have been the problem).

One other easy check is on the Fuel filter (did it get changed on the last service?)
