Disappointing economy from a Polo 1.4 TDI
I know diesel is dearer than petrol now but I seem to be using just as much diesel with this car than I did petrol with previously owned cars.

Most of my driving is around town but each month I do a 500 mile motorway round trip travelling mostly at 70mph. I thought I wouldn't have to fill up as often as with a petrol car but there's no difference. Could there be something wrong with the car?

Must be. A common reason is a dirty air filter.
