Windscreen wiper problem with Fabia

I have a Sept 2007 registered series 1 Skoda Fabia Bohemia. The front windshield wipers will only very occasionaly sweep once regardless of switch position selected, windscreen washer does not work to either front or rear screens. All the other items operated by the wiper stalk are ok.

Could be that the screenwasher pipes are pinched in the bonnet hinge. Likely reason for the wiper fault is moisture in the wiper motor itself.
