Capital of vents

I have been quoted over £80 by BMW for changing the air filter for the cabin for my 3-year old 530d. This seems a very high price for ensuring the cabin is free of smells and pollen so, unless there is a downside of which I am unaware, I intend not to bother. Presumably the maximum airflow will reduce, but does that really matter?

You might be able to do the job yourself. If the pollen filter gets badly blocked the car will mist up inside because air cannot get in.
