Short and the tall - Honda to BMW

I am thinking of changing my car, a 2007/57 Honda Civic type R GT, 31,500 miles, for a BMW 320d SE saloon. My budget runs to about £18,500 depending on the value of my car. My daily commute may increase shortly to a round trip of 70 miles. What sort of PX value should I expect?

Is it a wise choice? Any pitfalls with model choice?

Nothing wrong with an Efficient Dynamics BMW for this sort of use. That is what is it built for. The regenerative alternator will be able to charge the battery, the diesel particulate filter will burn off the smuts from its cold starts and you should get 50+ mpg.

You will get used to the very high gearing of nearly twice as many mph per 1000rpm as a Civic Type R. Expect to get about £8350 for that in part-exchange.
