Which breakdown recovery service do you recommend these days?

I just had my AA renewal through and at £273 I think it’s a bit much (Roadside; Home start; Relay; breakdown repair cover). Who do you recommend these days?

Option one is to not to renew and then to apply for it afresh at half the price. Option two is to switch to the RAC. Beware the others. Some are good, but most merely provide a tow in service to the nearest garage where they will charge to fix your car. The AA will not pick you up after a crash, or after a blowout caused by road debris which they count as a crash, so if you have a blowout don't tell the telephone operator the reason.
