Our new Fiat Panda automatic has returned an excellent 55mpg average over 5000 miles.

We recently swapped our old Rover 45 1600 auto for a FIAT Panda Automatic. We're really pleased with it - particularly the fuel consumption. We've always found autos pretty uneconomical, but the 5-speed auto Panda is averaging 55mpg over the 5000 miles we've done so far (and over 60mpg on a run), compared to the Rover's 25-30mpg. As a result we're saving about £100 per month on petrol.

That's because the Panda Dualogic is an automated manual with no torque converter losses or, in the case of the Rover, no CVT losses.
