My car is suddenly using more fuel.

Following eye surgery I could not drive my 2007 BMW 320 diesel for a month. Since restarting my use of the car, the average fuel consumption shown on the computer over my usual mixed trip distances, including local, 20+ mile A road and 30+ mile motorways has increased by at least 10mpg. Any ideas please?

Might be that it's colder and the engine remains on cold weather overfuelling for longer. My petrol FIAT is using 8 - 10mpg more than it was in the summer.
