What family car?
I have approx £11k to spend on family car, ideally an estate or MPV, something safe for the kids with good MPG and a capable load lugger too. I like the S-MAX and new Mondeo Estate, but having suffered poor reliability from my current MK2 Mondeo I am tempted by the Avensis estate (new or old). Which of these (or other like for like car) would you say offers the best package for family use thats going to be durable over a good few years?

Avensis estate good. Testing the 2012 version today. Better with the 1.8 or 2.0i Valvematic petrol engine than the diesels. No DPF to worry about then and very nearly as fuel efficient.
