Broken cam belt
The cam belt has broken at 99,000, and repairs are likely to cost us more than £2000. For normal use, the handbook recommends changing at 100,000 miles. Otherwise it is "severe" at 50,000.
We have owned the car from new, and is only used as family transport.
When I called our garage, without declaring our problem or mileage, they confirmed the recommendation.
We need to repair the car quickly as it is our only transport. What chance have we of obtaining a contribution, even in court? If we use a local garage to keep the cost down, how will this influence things?
I have written this on behalf of my daughter and family, as panic is not helping them.
