Insurance and replacement windscreens
My windscreen has developed a split and needs replacing.
I have glass insurance in my policy but I have read in your column that some insurance companies will increase future premiums if you have had any sort of accident, including 'no fault' accidents; even when the repair was paid for by the owner.
Does this happen with windscreen replacements? If so would I be better to have it repaired myself (£400 quote Autoglass) and not involve the insurance Company ?

First, obviously check what your insurer's policy is about this. If you are considering having it replaced yourself, get some competitive quotes. Readers report getting the job done for half what Autoglass quote. (I was quoted £560 by Autoglass 10 days ago.)
