Problematic Golf Gears

We bought a new VW Golf TSI in 2009, and from new the reverse gear has been difficult to engage and get out of.

The dealer has had several looks at the problem, changed the gearbox oil and fitted a new selector, but we still experience difficulties. It's now happening in first gear as well. Because it's an intermittent fault the dealer doesn't seem willing to investigate further, but I want to resolve this before the warranty expires next October.
Have you heard of this before and have you any suggestions?

VW gearbox quality varies quite a lot. The dealer has done all he can do apart from replace the gearbox.
