Car written off while in care of AA

My car was being recovered by the AA (suspected water pump failure) when the AA truck and trailer, which my car was on, were struck by a 24 tonne lorry. It was, I understand the lorry driver's fault. He had swerved into the oncoming traffic (ie the AA truck) to avoid a stationary police car. Two police officers witnessed the crash. The AA delivered back to me a total write-off and have said its over to me to claim on my insurance. I have been told that there's nothing they can do to help me. I am very disappointed as I would have expected more from a major motoring organisation. I am now left nearly three weeks later battling with my insurance company with no sight of a sensible claim in view.

Check the terms of your contract with the AA, and if you can't, get a motoring specialist solicitor to. You will still be penalised in future premiums because any claim causes that. But if the AA is deemed to have been responsible for the car on the trailer then it's up to them to sort out the problem with the truck driver's insurers.
