Cabin fumes

I have a Honda Accord Tourer on an 05-plate with 102k on the clock.

There has been a smell of exhaust fumes in the cabin since back in December which I have dealt with by having the recirculate air function operating.

Having looked online a cause can be a cracked manifold, which is such a common cause that Honda have changed the design.

I have contacted the local Honda dealer who says that Honda won’t cover the repair due to the age/mileage, but online there are numerous people who have had it replaced.

Should Honda cover this repair? It is a common design fault in an element that is not really subject to wear and tear. A FSH would not have prevented the problem.

It's years old so Honda is under no obligation to replace this even though it's a known problem. Might contribute some goodwill if you raise it as a safety complaint, saying the fumes make your feel drowsy.
