Honest engine?

I would be pleased to receive any thoughts/comments you have to make about the Seat Leon engines available. My choice appears to be between a 1.4TSi SE or a 1.9TDi SE. I drive approx 15,000 miles pa, of which 4,500 is long motorway journeys and the remainder rural and urban roads. In particular I am interested in fuel economy and the power to go up hills quite a lot

I.4 TSI 122. Much better torque than a turbodiesel at low engine speeds. Very pleasant to drive. But only if you can get one. These engines are in short supply. The old 1.9 diesel is going out of production in favour of a new, more efficient 1.6 diesel.
