Right key, wrong keyhole

You recommend running at higher revs to help a DPF to regenerate. I drive a Volvo V70 AWD 2.4d. At 2,000 rpm I travel at 60 mph. At 2,300 rpm I travel at 70 mph. How do you suggest I exceed the speed limit to travel at 2,300 rpm? Or is there an alternative? Secondly having paid the price for an aberration at the fuel pump why are fuel nozzles not made infallible? Colours are not always consistent; so no help to my colour blind friend. I recall using pumps many years ago when unleaded was being introduced, might have been in Sweden, where the larger leaded hose was approx. 35-40mm dia, the smaller unleaded 25-30mm dia and diesel 28mm square. I understood the experiment was dropped because truckers sought larger nozzles to accelerate refuelling with diesel and objected to the lower flow via square nozzle. The square nozzle was abandoned because a major manufacturer estimated that 80 cent increase in manufacturing cost for the square nozzle on its production was untenable.

You use a lower gear, don't you? Then you don't have to exceed the speed limit. But I could not agree more about the stupid branding of Shell V-Power and BP Ultimate diesel and petrol the same. I brought this up with BP five years ago, but they just ignored me. I think a legal case could be made whereby they be held responsible. Meanwhile you can buy misfuelling prevention devices as follows: www.caparorightfuel.com; www.sol-ace.co.uk; www.fuelsure.com (all £30); www.nouscap.com (£36.75); dieselkeydirect (which has Thatcham approval) £58.75.
