Time to Micrate?

I've currently a W reg Nissan Micra that has been trouble free but wonder if I'm on borrowed time and should be looking to part exchange it either for a 2/3 year old car or a new Micra? It has to be an automatic as I only have an automatic licence and ideally 5-door as I'm retiring next year and plan to get a small dog. I've just noticed that you've advised a 71 year old on small automatics but did not mentioned the Micra. Would you advise me to (a) change it and (b) go for the same models as the 71 year old excluding the Micra?

No reason not to go for the current shape Micra. It now has a 4-speed torque converter autobox rather than the CVT of your present car, but I have received no complaints of autobox problems since 2003 when the model was introduced. That said, if you can afford a bit more, a Nissan Note 1.6 auto is a more versatile and practical car
