Duel over flywheel

I have a 2002/53 Mondeo Diesel. On 23-03-09 Wynne Motors of Burbage, Leicester fitted a Replacement Clutch Kit, Concentric Slave Cylinder, Dual Mass Flywheel and Mounting (all parts were new). Cost £703.35 (inc VAT). Then on 24-06-09, C&S Automotive replaced the starter motor with a new one at a cost of £152.37. Over the next 500 miles further starter motor problems occurred, C&S found iron filings in the starter and replaced FOC. They thought Wynnes did not do the clutch repair properly. Wynnes informed me
that they will remove the gearbox to check, but if no problems exist, I must pay for 6 hours labour. Should I have to pay?

As you have rightly realised the starter ring is on the outer dual mass flywheel so if it is not installed properly it will affect the starter pinion and vice versa. (Happily, Wynnes honestly informed C.W. that the replacement DMF had proved defective and replaced it FOC.)
