audi A3

Considering purchase of used A3 say 2/3 years old. Must be auto and 5 door possibly petrol but not opposed to diesel. As there are so many A3's in the range can you suggest the one you feel I should consider based on ride, economy, spec. Suggested price would be helpful. Finally, would you suggest alternative I should also try for comparison before making decision?

Currently they are mega money. See today's auction report. If paying 75% for the car and 25% for status is your bag, then go ahead. There are a lot of cars that are actually better for the same money, but they don;t hold their value as well. Note, however, that an Auto that holds its price up to 50k miles, can drop quite heavily by 80k - 100k. Today;s prices: Audi A3 Sportback 2.0TDI 140, 2005/55, 86k miles £5,700; Audi A3 Sportback 1.9TDI 105, 07 reg, 103k miles £5,250; Audi A3 Sportback 2.0TDI 140, 07 reg, 74k miles £7,300; Audi A3 Sportback 2.0TDI 140, 2007/57, 94k miles £6,900; Audi A3 Sportback 1.9TDI 105, 2007/57, 39k miles £8,300; Audi A3 Sportback 1.9TDI 105 Sport, 2007/57, 54k miles £8,900; Audi A3 Sportback 2.0TDI 170, 2007/57, 44k miles £12,600.
