Tyres for XFS

Have you heard of any issues faced with the tyres supplied with the Jaguar XF S 3 litre D? My father had to have three out of four replaced at 16,000 mile not for tread wear (all were over 5mm) but for a breakdown in the side wall of the tyre, an identical problem on three out of the four tyres. This seems to me rather unusual and I'm curious to find out is this an issolated incident or have other people experienced similar failings in the tyres?

If these are 20", then yes, problems are likely because there is not enough tyre between the rims and the road. But 16k is actually good mileage for any low profile 20" tyres. The cars are much better on 19" tyres with what effectively works out as slightly deeper profile.
