I have a card that I swipe, but have opted for the money off vouchers, they come through with each statement, also attached to the last few statements has been one or two bonus points vouchers.
They are supposed to give you extra points if you fill up five or six times within a month or so.
BTW, how quickly do you receive your statements, I have only just got my December 2008 one!!
|
I did not get any bonus vouchers - this time or the last statement. Emailed a query a few months back and again 2/3 days ago. Did not get a reply now or in the past.................
|
I've had no end of issues with them, namly bonus points not being added etc. Although to print my money of vouchers, getting the points into my account is a mess. Even if they swipe my card sometimes they are not added!
|
I have had to chase quite a few times to get the normal points added.........but lately they seem to go on much quicker.
I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth the hassle, but as the local Shell station is normally the cheapest around, and the motor seems to run better, I would rather stick with it.....

I tried their helpdesk once - hopeless - India based - very poor service.

It rubbish, but keep emailing them and they do sort the problems out eventually, so keep the message you send in your Sent Items.
I have had problems with not receiving the vouchers for money off fuel and earlier on some purchases not being added to the account.
Here are the rules...
If you buy more than 200 litres of fuel in any one month, you?ll earn two points per litre during that month.
Litres per month Total Points Earned
25 25
50 50
75 75
100 100
150 150
200 400
250 500
300 600
350 700
Generally speaking, 2 points = 1p

I had the same experience a while ago swapping over to the V-Power points card. But they are open to suggestions that they may not have correctly allocated all the points due. They asked me how many I thought I was missing so I told them I reckoned I was missing at least £200+ value in points they added them and some more there and then, no argument!
I also have concerns along with the OP about the x number of top ups in a period. I have on one the go at the moment for 4 x 25 litre fills of V Power for 300 extra points (I think.) I presented the offer voucher at the first fill up and they initialled it and said keep the voucher and present it each time which is not what it says in the promo details. The second time I presented it at another garage they said I didn't need to but still initialled it! I don't use the VPower diesel just the petrol for SWMBO's wheels.
I don't worry too much about the points - I prefer Shell Diesel (plus a splash of Millers) to any other fuel and it's no more expensive. The cash back is a bonus if I get it which I seem to and I guess it's right but knowing the Shell system and their history for screw ups, it may well be wrong.

I have been using the Shell points card(now V-power card for me) since it started. I initially had to wait nine months to get my points because "I was apparently not on their system- but my card was".Basically my card was registering points but they didn't know where to send the vouchers. I contacted them, and since then I have received over £50 in fuel vouchers. As I often exceed 200 litres of V-power per month, it makes it a good scheme for me, and after the initial glitch I have had no problems. A guy at Shell explained to me that the extra points coupons should be handed over and retained by the petrol station. If its a Shell station they will swipe it and retain it. If the Shell station is an Independant using Shell( like the car dealership I sometimes use to fill up) then they will forward it to Shell without swiping it.

Always insist that you hand over the bonus coupon at the service station whilst purchasing fuel within the date range stated on the voucher. The voucher will be sent on and points will be credited at the end of the quarter in which the promotional coupon was valid. For example if the date ranges were 25/11/08 - 03/12/08 this promotion is for Quarter 4 08 and the points should be added after the 31st/12/08. Thats basically how it works, you may get some vouchers valid for use very early in the quarter and these may not end up crediting your account for a few months, but they do get on there. A few things to remember are always ensure the sales assistant takes the voucher from you and also note the date ranges so you know which quarter you are in and when roughly you should be expecting the points to be credited N.B its not even worth worrying about these points being missing until after the quarter has ended.

"I have had problems with not receiving the vouchers for money off fuel and earlier on some purchases not being added to the account." - I don't seem to have a problem getting or indeed using the money off vouchers, although, I had loads of problems at first with purchases being added to my account, although, fingers-crossed, that doesn't seem to be a problem now.

" - Up until last week, the voucher has always been taken off me at the filling station (a local one owned by Shell I beleive), but when my wife filled up at a different station, they marked a 1 on the voucher and returned it!!

The helpdesk were in chocolate teapot territory - USELESS!!

Yes, I too have wondered about when these bonus points might be added.
The good thing is that your Shell CitiFinancial card statement clearly shows the date, type and volume of fuel used, and so the only weak link is relying on the fuel station cashier to forward the bonus point vouchers to Shell Drivers Club to award the points. I have taken to retaining the letter that comes with the vouchers and writing on this the nature of each voucher. That way at least you can double check if you rpoints have been awarded (memo to self: must double check if points have been awarded).
As with all these schemes they try and bamboozle you with details to make it as difficult as possible to see if you are getting your just Rewards!

Why? Who are these people? Do they run the scheme?
|
Same as other posters above I use Shell stations as they seem to give the best price in my location and I benefit from the 3p on the Shell Citicard. Agree that the Shell Drivers' Club helpdesk is totally useless, but if you think they are bad try the Citicard one, Monty Python Bangalore version. Eventually I gave up, but on finding a UK based Citi number they did apologise and credit my account with £20. I use the card as a fuel card only, paper statements and it works OK, but don't bother phoning the helpdesk, don't waste your time and save the call charge too.
|
Mine has never worked and I've simply given up on it - which also means, of course, that I no longer go out of my way to buy Shell.
|
I thought the citicard only worked for fuelk over £1 a litre?
|
Shell sub-contract their Drivers Club into both Europe and India.

This spurred me on to check my shell points as I havent recieved any vouchers lately. I have 7300 points (about £35 in vouchers). I have checked my reward. Would it be worth contacting Shell to see why they havent sent out the vouchers yet not deducting points?

And it gets even better, the latest T&Cs seem to have removed the "doubling up" of points when you purchase 200+ litres per month, so now you are only getting the equivilent of £0.005 per litre if you take the vouchers, and they still take an age to come, we are now into June and I am still waiting for voucher to the end of March. Think I will move to another fuel supplier!
