2001- 1.7dti isuzu engine - sluggish performance - griff08
hi , i drive a astravan with the isuzu engine, recently i`ve noticed that theres a lack of power when driving, but when i reach about 70 mph / 3000 rpm , turbo cuts in and it then takes of like a rocket, when restarted, hot or cold, its sluggish again, have serviced engine but it makes no difference, can`t see any split hoses, its done 60,000 and is serviced once a year using synthetic oil and vauxhaul filters, i only do 4500 miles a year in it , any suggestions ? thanks.

Check that the pipe between the manifold and the boost control diaphragm on the pump is not split, or full of oil or fuel.

hello all....i`ve finally got around to having the fault codes read by local deisel specialists, they are * po380 glow plug/heater circuit (A) : open circuit/positive short. *po100 mass volume air flow circuit :implausible signal. *po571 cruise control brake circuit A open circuit/positive short. *po370 ref: mark A no communication. * po400 egr mechanical fault. *p1125 boost pressure solenoid valve basic setting faulty. they recommended replacing the mass airflow meter first and gave me a qoute, but im a bit short of cash at moment.......could i do this myself ? should i get vauxhall part, or cheaper motor factor part ? any suggestions ? thanks

maf's are easy to change just note the arrow direction when fitting,if the budget will stretch go for a genuine one, ignore the glowplug one untill you start haveing problems starting, the egr could be causeing the implausable fault on the maf,the egr valves do get very dirty causeing sticking, but my first guess is that a maf will cure it, do you know anyone with the same type of vehicle, if so swapping the maf is a two min job and would confirm the diagnosis , Regards TB

unfortunatelyt , i dont know anyone with same vehicle so cant swap, engine starts great-no problems there, garage highlighted maf first, also p1125 boost pressure sol/valve fault second, maybe i should try scrap yard or e-bay for a cheap maf just to see if it makes any difference , main dealer price left me fighting for breath ! ! ! ha ha
