I like Citroens, but the Picasso does drink fuel, for me that would be one big reason to sell it. She says being a bad influence :)

I'm usually guilty of advising people to stick with what they've got-until there is a compelling reason to change. This is not to say that no one should ever get a new car. However, if one is simply 'bored' with their car, it is useful to have a really good think about exactly what it is that bores them.

Boring cars are usually reliable-otherwise they wouldn't be boring! Actual dependability (as opposed to survey data) is not to be dismissed lightly. Cars with very little value are also a weight off the chest. If it gets scraped in a car park you don't care. You will care if your new pride and joy suffers such a humiliation. No GAP or finance worries is also a boon. If it dies, you scrap it and get something else.

Remember that your replacement car will probably consume almost as much fuel as the old one. Tyres, brakes, servicing and cambelt changes are routine and will not go away just because you've changed vehicle.

It is a classic mistake to overspend on the car and scrimp on running costs. Next time you're stuck behind a slow driver, take a note of the age of the car. Odds on it will be 60 plate or newer, The driver put all the money into a new car that hemmorhages thousands through depreciation and now baulks at the cost of a tank of diesel. Madness.

Absolutely right, I fancy a change!

Went to Cargiant yesterday so try some of the options for size. We've recently acquired a dog, so holidays are going to call on more space, unless we get a bigger roof box. The dog crate now takes up 2/3 of the boot.

I've always liked the look of the S-Max and it certainly feels much more roomy as well as more car-y. I liked it a lot. Unfortunately the named-driver, as I like to call her, immediately took a dislike to it and wandered off to look at VWs.

The new Picasso doesn't look any bigger really than the old one. The Galaxy just seems too big, isn't it just an S-Max with headroom?

The only thing we both liked was a Passat estate with leather seats. I am slightly over the whole MPV thing... it promises much, but actually, other than having seven seats, I'm beginning to wonder what the advantage is over a decent sized estate.
