As elekie&a/c doctor suggests, finding earth termination points can be a right pain. Manuals will normally only indicate where earthing points are common (in the wiring diagrams) but not necessarily the physical location.
Far easier (if it is an earthing issue) to simply run a wire from the rear of the lighting plug to a local earthing point.
Question you might want to ask yourself though is, are there any other circuits, possibly using this earthing point ? (It might be worth a cursory investigation following the harnes to see if you can see an earth termination point).......ebt
(ps, it'r pretty easy to create a new earthing point)
