brakelight stays on peugeot 206 - dips
Hi, everyone the brake lights on my peugeot 206 stay on. I've changed the flexi hose pipes, i've changed the callipers cause the brakes was binding. The switch is ok. Anymore suggestions please. Many thanks. P.S I've noticed a few more peugeots with the brake lights on. I wonder if they have the same problem.

The reason that so many 206's have the brake lights on, is that Peugeot leave the left-hand drive switch in the same place for ours.

Any big-footed passenger can kick the switch and knock it out of it's bracket.

You say the switch is OK? What happens when you disconnect it? [It's the one in the passenger footwell.]

the light goes off when disconnected but the brakes are still binding

So the problem isn't the lights per se; but the fact that the cross-shaft isn't returning fully and switching them off. Is that what you're trying to say?

hi screwloose
yeah but why are the brakes binding?

So if the cross-shaft is stuck, keeping the brake lights on; it'll be holding the brakes on too.

What's stopping the shaft returning? Can you pull the pedal up to return it?

Hi, screwloose,
sorry about the long delay. So do you think the cross-shaft is faulty because it looks ok but the pedal seems to return to ok as well.
