Does anybody know how to open up the key in order to replace the battery on a skoda key/remote control ?

I'm proceeding with care, as the last time I replaced a Vag key it cost me £35 !

On my 2000 Octavia, use a small screwdriver in the little slot under the Skoda badge to remove the key. Then use the screwdriver to open out the two clips and seperature the two halves of the transmitter. Then carefully lever out the batteries. There are two CR2016 batteries.

Edward - spot on !!!
(I just didn't have the confidence to hack away - I usually end up with bits of plastic flying across the room)

p.s. - my Octavia uses a single CR2032

Well the batteries lasted all of 10 months and I'd forgotten how to open the key up !

when I come to open it up in another 10 months, remember to push the point of the screwdriver towards the point of the key, not the fob !

Well here we are again, it looks like 10 months is how long a fob battery lasts.
I wouldn't mind if it wasn't such a faff to change it

mmmm. - only 5 months this time. And I can still never work out out to get into the key

Go on, get out of the car...

Which year is your Skoda Octavia which uses CR2032 in the key fob please?

Bear, ir's best to assume that a thread whose latest post is 12 years old is well and truly dead. None of the posters seems to be around any more, though I dimly remember some of the names.

Why not ask your question in a new thread?
