Grandson needs a cheap car - any suggestions?
My grandson is looking at a 10 year old Renault clio 1.2 with full service history for about £1500. The mileage is under 60,000. Would this be a good buy. If not what would you recommend?

A 1999 - 2005 Yaris is generally best, followed by a Fiesta 1.25 or 1.4 (not a Fiesta 1.3). This Renault might be ok. Might be junk.

My daughter wishes to purchase her first car and has a very limited budget of about £1500. She would like something small and compact, reliable and economical to run. Do you have any other suggestions?

Good handling and comfortable ride. Tidy design. Reasonably spacious. Plenty of choice second-hand. Good reputation for reliability.
