What car do you suggest for a long motorway commute?
I'm looking at replacing our current car for a nice, fuel-efficient car for our daily commute. Currently, I drive a 140-mile round trip every working day so looking for something that's frugal, yet isn’t too slow and boring. Going from the Real MPG section on here I’m angling towards a BMW 3 Series but just looking for some other opinions. Our journey is majority A roads and motorway so tend to be cruising along around 70-80mph the majority of it so something with some cruise control and general comfort is what we would be looking towards. For a budget, I’ll say anything around £10,000-£15,000 with around 20,000 on the clock just as that’s around the price range of a 3 Series I’ve been looking towards at present.

A BMW 3 Series sounds like a strong choice. I'd also consider a Volkswagen Passat or Skoda Superb. You might class them as boring but they've got excellent interiors and there's a reason they're so popular with high-mileage drivers. Your budget will go further than with a 3 Series, too.

Great to drive with a wide range of refined engines. Looks and feels very classy. New infotainment from late in 2022 means it's now entirely up-to-date.
