My recommendation would be the Toyota Corolla 1.8 petrol hybrid. According to Real MPG submissions, it returns 61+mpg: www.honestjohn.co.uk/realmpg/toyota/corolla-2019

What's more, being a Toyota, the manufacturer's warranty can be extended up to 10 years/100,000 miles if you service it within the Toyota dealer network.

Very efficient hybrid hatch with surprisingly upmarket interior. Good to drive, too, while standard equipment levels are generous.
